Once the wedding's over and you've got your pictures right in front of you - and you've made sure they're good enough and not a "botched job" - now you need to find space to stash them. Just bear in mind that this is easier said than done! You'll actually have to put the effort in here to make sure your pictures stand the test of time.

Most people use photo albums to store their pictures. Why? Simple. Because almost every single photo album is made from carbon paper. Why does this matter? Again, simple. Because it has a skinny plastic covering to protect your photos. So putting your pictures in an album is simple and straight forward. All you have to do is lift the page open, slide your photo in, and you're done! But again there's one thing you really need to do before putting your photos inside. You must clean the reverse of the plastic sheet to remove dampness, water, etc. Just one little drop can damage your entire photo. And don't forget to keep the album in dry place (preferrably warm), like the hot water cupboard. Stay away from anywhere likely to collect moisture.

One other thing to bear in mind: an album that's chemically processed can help. These types of albums are different from "standard" ones because they're full of industrial chemicals that actually improve the paper strength. While obviously much more expensive, the same process is used in libraries and even federal reserve banks to improve the strength of paper. It's basically the same idea for albums.

While not "conventional", another option is tin cans. Over time you run the risk of rust, but so long as you keep them where there's no dampness, mould or water you shouldn't have that problem. In fact tin cans can last a long time. And don't forget you can use this simple method to keep your photos sealed "air tight". This can actually improve the life of the photos.

While all the above methods work well, there is one final option that costs a lot but is definitely the most effective. And that is to use fire proof cabinets. Obviously you can also use them for other important documents. The biggest advantage here is they're airtight and very strong. Perfect for ensuring your photos last as long as possible.

But at the end of the day the choice is yours and will probably boil down to your budget. Always make sure you can afford the method you choise. Also don't forget that you ensure your photos are easily accessible. After all, what's the point of having these photos if you can't share them with the people you love and care for?
